Domino Effect From MotoGP Race, Investment In Central Lombok Soars

JAKARTA - Central Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara, explained that investment increased as a result of the construction of the Mandalika Circuit in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

"Investment continues to increase, although not much," said Head of the Central Lombok Investment and One-Stop Licensing Service (DPMP2T), H Muhammad in Praya, Friday, April 8, quoted from Antara.

The increase in investment is the impact of the existence of MotoGP at the Mandalika Circuit and some of the potential that exists in Central Lombok. Several investors came to see the potential, even though they had not yet carried out development.

"Essentially there is an increase, but a little because of current conditions," he said.

The obstacle to increasing investment in Central Lombok is the COVID-19 pandemic, so the increase is not too high when compared to before the pandemic. However, his party is optimistic that the investment target in Central Lombok can be achieved this year.

"This pandemic is still an obstacle," he said.

He said the investment target in Central Lombok in 2021 was IDR 3 trillion and the realization was almost IDR 2.5 trillion. Meanwhile, the 2022 investment target has not been set, because it is still waiting for the results of the coordination meeting with the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government. Some of the dominant types of investment today are accommodation, housing, and homestays as well as several other industrial developments.

"Most of it is in the southern region," he said.

Last year's investment target has not been achieved, because the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) has not reported to the central government regarding the development budget for the Mandalika SEZ.

"If you look at the field, last year's investment target has been achieved, which is more than IDR 3 trillion," he said.
