Every Year, 24 Foreign Workers Give A Levy To The Paser East Kalimantan Regional Treasury Of IDR 400 Million

PASER - The Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) of Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, noted that the retribution from 24 foreign workers in this area reached IDR 400 million per year.

"Every company that has foreign workers is required to pay a levy to the regional treasury," said the Head of the Work Opportunity Expansion Placement (P2K2) of the Paser Regency Manpower and Transmigration Office, Nuriansyah in Tanah Grogot, Antara, Thursday, April 7.

He said the levy was aimed at using foreign workers. The company is obliged to pay it to the Regional Revenue Agency of Paser Regency.

"The levy that must be paid by companies that employ foreigners is 100 US dollars per person every month," said Nuriansyah.

According to him, the foreign workers came from various countries including Australia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and Korea.

He explained that foreign workers in coal companies mostly come from Australia, while foreign workers in oil palm plantation companies come from Malaysia, India, and Sri Lanka.

As many as 24 foreign workers are under the supervision of the Paser Manpower and Transmigration Office, and every company that has foreign workers is required to pay a levy to the regional treasury.

"In a period of every few months, the Paser Manpower and Transmigration Office actively supervises foreign workers in a number of companies," he said.

Based on the data, most of these foreign workers have middle to upper-status positions, meaning that it is rare for foreign workers to work at the field level.

However, the presence of these foreign workers can transmit expertise to local workers.

"This means that there are also local workers who have worked long enough, take experience from foreign workers, and can be used as provisions in working to advance the company," concluded Nuriansyah.
