JAKARTA - Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19, Reisa Broto Asmoro, said foreign travelers (PPLN) will not undergo quarantine and test for COVID-19 with PCR if they have undergone complete or booster doses of vaccination and have no symptoms of COVID-19.

"For PPLNs who have received the second or third dose of vaccine at least 14 days before departure, are not detected, have no symptoms related to COVID-19, and have a body temperature below 37.5 degrees Celsius, they are allowed to continue the journey without quarantine, without PCR examination", said Reisa as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 6.

This policy is stated in Circular Letter Number 17 of 2022 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic which is effective from April 5, 2022.

Reisa said that with this policy, going home for some of the Indonesian diaspora, which is estimated at around 5 million people, might be easier and smoother.

"The large number of people who will carry out homecoming mobility, of course, we have to make sure it will not reduce our achievement in controlling COVID-19. After being happy on the holidays, of course, there is no need for sorrow, let's maintain the joy of Ramadan until the month of Shawwal and after", she said.

She also invited the public to undergo vaccination in the month of Ramadan. The vaccination is intended, primarily to ensure that those who are going home are healthy, the families visited are also healthy and everyone is expected to stay healthy, even until they return from going home.

"Let's immediately fulfill the complete dose of vaccination and booster vaccination, it is recommended at least two weeks before we go home. This is because it takes time for vaccines to form optimal immunity", she said.

Immunity or resistance to disease can decrease over time so a booster injection or a third injection is needed after a minimum of three months after complete vaccination.

By the MUI Fatwa Number 13 of 2021 concerning the Law on Vaccination for COVID-19 while Fasting, the COVID-19 vaccination does not cancel fasting, so residents do not need to hesitate to vaccinate, even though they are fasting.

"It's just that you make sure your body is in good shape and prepare yourself by consuming balanced nutrition at dawn", said Reisa.
