Mayor: Parking Attendant Is A Reflection Of Magelang City, Must Be Friendly And Honest

MAGELANG - The parking attendant is referred to as a reflection of the City of Magelang, Central Java. Parking attendants are asked to be honest, friendly and provide the best service to the community.

"Don't think about yourself, parking attendants are a picture of the government. If the service is good, God willing, Magelang City will also be good," said Mayor of Magelang Muchamad Nur Aziz as reported by Antara, Thursday, March 31.

The mayor conveyed this message when providing guidance for the manager and interpreter of the road-owned parking space (rumija) at the Service Hall of the Magelang Mayor's Office Complex.

Aziz reminded parking attendants in uniform while on duty to look presentable. Then, the managers were asked to invite their respective parking attendants to communicate intensively to avoid conflicts in the field.

He asked the parking attendants to provide friendly, diligent, careful, disciplined and honest service.

"In addition, you must also be a loman (generous) to others. Communication is also important so that there are no more fights between parking attendants in Magelang City," he said.

Regarding the increase in parking rates, Aziz stated that there must be a mechanism for increasing rates through regional regulations.

"Currently there are 11 parking blocks, some are busy and some are not, but don't be afraid. Later there will be a mechanism for an increase in parking rates," he said.

Head of the Magelang City Transportation Service, Candra Wijatmiko Adi, explained that parking has a role in realizing order, security and smooth traffic to improve public welfare which is carried out in a planned and integrated manner.

Parking management as part of traffic management must also develop its potential and role to realize security, safety, order and smooth traffic in the context of supporting economic development and regional regional development.

Therefore, he said, the development of Rumija parking managers and interpreters is aimed at realizing an orderly, smooth and integrated parking service, realizing law enforcement in the operation of parking facilities, limiting parking spaces in certain areas, increasing traffic flow and supporting the development of public transportation.

"The parking facilities at Rumija must meet the requirements, at least they can guarantee security, safety, and smooth traffic; be easily accessible by service users; and preserve the environment," explained Candra.

Candra detailed that currently the parking rates have been determined and adjusted to the service. Parking on public roads for zone I, namely large buses, large trucks and the like, is Rp. 6,000 per parking; medium trucks and the like Rp3,000; sedan, minibus, 3-wheeled vehicle and the like Rp2,000; and motorbikes Rp. 1,000.

Whereas in zone II, large trucks and the like are Rp. 8,000 per parking; medium trucks and the like Rp6,000; sedans, minibuses, 3-wheeled vehicles and the like Rp4,000; and motorbikes Rp. 1,000.

In addition to parking tariff provisions, there are a number of obligations and prohibitions that must be obeyed by parking attendants, including partners and parking users. Those who do not heed it will be subject to sanctions in the form of a written warning, up to revocation of permits/termination of cooperation.

"For parking users, the administrative sanctions are in the form of wheel locks and/or moving the vehicle to a certain place by using a tow truck or other means," he said.

Candra said that most parking violations in Magelang City that occurred were violations at zebra crossings, sidewalks, school safe zone areas (ZOSS), and other parking prohibited areas.
