The Invasion Of Putin's Troops Has Not Stopped, Heineken Finally Leaves Russia

JAKARTA - Russia continues to receive blow after blow, after its military has not stopped advancing into Ukraine. The most recent was the departure of the Dutch beer Heineken.

Heineken on Monday, March 28, officially joined the exodus of foreign businesses from Russia due to the war in Ukraine. In a statement, they described the departure as "very sad".

This beer company already employs 1,800 people in Russia. And now they stopped the sale and production of the Heineken brand throughout Russia.

Not only that, but Heineken also suspended investment and new exports to the country earlier this month.

"We are shocked and deeply saddened to see the war in Ukraine continue and escalate," Heineken said in a statement.

"Following the previously announced strategic review of our operations, we have concluded that Heineken's business holdings in Russia are no longer sustainable or viable in the current environment," the statement said.

"As a result, we have decided to leave Russia," he was quoted as saying by Channel News Asia.

Heineken is Russia's third-largest brewer, where it manufactures the Zhigulevskoe and Oxota brands for the local market.

Hundreds of Western companies have closed shops and offices in Russia since the war began, a list that includes such well-known names as Ikea, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, and McDonald's.
