Calls Terawan's Dismissal Invalid, DPR Leadership Asks The Police To Investigate The Riots At Indonesian Doctors Association

JAKARTA - The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) considers Terawan Agus Putranto's permanent dismissal from the membership of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) by the Medical Ethics Honorary Council (MKEK) to be invalid.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said the dismissal was very dangerous for the medical world. Dasco also admitted that he had studied the dismissal case.

"After I learned that, we can state that this dismissal is invalid. First, it is only a recommendation from the IDI medical ethics board. Both recommendations must be executed by the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI)", said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Monday, March 28.

"Well, while the old administrators have resigned, the new ones have not been appointed. Then they were read out in the congress forum by an unknown device, causing a commotion", he continued.

It is known that Terawan's dismissal was read out at the 31st IDI Congressional Session in Banda Aceh, Friday, March 25, 2022. The reason was that Dr. Terawan was fired due to treatment with the 'brainwashing' method using the Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) tool in the treatment of stroke and the Nusantara vaccine in prevention COVID-19.

Dasco believes that the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, can facilitate the dismissal of the new Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) management. "Because I also see that the new PB IDI management may be able to accommodate or communicate well, facilitated by the health minister", he explained.

The Gerindra politician will even ask the Indonesian Police to investigate the commotion at the IDI congress. In particular, regarding the reason for Terawan's permanent dismissal.

"Since this is already noisy, I will ask the police to investigate the person who made this noise and take legal action. Because incidents like this cannot be repeated, where the things that should be done by an organization are done by individuals", explained Dasco.

Regarding the summons of IDI to the DPR, Dasco submitted it to Commission IX of the DPR as a working partner. Is there a need for a summons or not.

"But what is important, we will ask Commission IX to conduct a comprehensive study of the Medical Practice Law and the Medical Education Law. So that later we will see an organization like IDI where its position is", he said.

So far, Dasco admits that he has not communicated with Terawan. However, he has communicated with the health minister.

"To ensure the Ministry of Health facilitates so that this does not drag on. I believe the Minister of Health can facilitate between the new IDI and Doctor Terawan as a member of IDI", he said.

"I said (Terawan) is still a member of IDI. Because I consider the dismissal to be illegal", said Sufmi Dasco.
