KALBAR - The West Kalimantan (Kalbar) High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) arrested a woman with the initials RS on suspicion of corruption (tipikor) budget deviations for the Mandiri Rural National Community Empowerment Program (PNPM) in Belitang Hilir District, Sekadau Regency in 2012-2013.

State losses on the alleged corruption in the hospital, which has the status of a suspect, are estimated at IDR 623 million. The hospital was immediately brought by members of the Prosecutor's Office to the Pontianak District Attorney

"We arrested the suspect in a rented house in Kampung Jawa, Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency with the Sekadau and Mempawah Kejari Team," said West Kalimantan Attorney General Masyhudi Head in Pontianak, Monday, March 28.

He explained that the arrest and detention was a follow-up to the Pontianak High Court Corruption Court Decision Number: 2/Pid.Sus-TPK/2019/PT.PTK dated May 7, 2019, on behalf of the convict Melinda Patrisia who was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption.

"That the decision stated that the actions of the convict Melinda Patrisia were carried out together with the suspect RS," he said.

He added that the suspect from the hospital was arrested in her rented house in Kampung Jawa Ambawang, Kubu Raya Regency.

"After being arrested, the suspect was immediately taken to the Pontianak District Attorney's Office for questioning and a medical examination accompanied by an appointed legal adviser," he said.

After examining the information and health checks and being declared negative for COVID-19 and in good health, he said, the suspect was immediately taken to the Pontianak Women's Prison.

In that case, he said, the West Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office summoned the suspect to the hospital three times, but the suspect was uncooperative and fled.

"Today, we are making coercive efforts by making arrests and detentions, this is in order to have a psychological effect on other fugitives because there is no place for fugitives to escape," he said.

On that occasion, Kajati West Kalimantan appealed and invited the public to help inform if they know of the whereabouts of other fugitives so that they can immediately be arrested for legal proceedings.
