When KPK Responded Novel Baswedan Who Offers Help In Finding Harun Masiku

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) responded to the statement of its former investigator, Novel Baswedan, who admitted that he had offered to help in the search for the former PDIP legislative candidate, Harun Masiku. KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said he had never heard of the request directly.

Through his YouTube account, Novel Baswedan said he had offered to help find Harun Masiku. Harun is a suspect in the bribery of the former General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan, whose whereabouts are still unknown.

This offer was given because the KPK has not yet succeeded in arresting Harun. In fact, he has been a fugitive since 2020.

"The fugitive, who has been mentioned many times, even though people often hear the name Harun Masiku, for example, is actually not being looked for. We even offered to help several times? Hopefully, we will get it soon," Novel said, quoted from his YouTube account.

It's just that, the offer, as if considered a breeze by the Commission. Because, Novel admitted that no response was given regarding the offer.

"But there is also no response (regarding the offer of help looking for Harun, ed)," he said.

Responding to this statement, Karyoto stated that he had never heard of Novel's direct offer to look for Harun Masiku. He said that Novel actually had a mobile phone number and could contact him directly if he wanted to help.

"My friend Novel, said that he had offered to collaborate (to look for Harun Masiku, ed). I am the person in charge of prosecution and execution, I never heard those words from me even though he had my phone number," Karyoto said in a KPK YouTube show RI.

Karyoto emphasized that the KPK was open to any assistance provided by anyone to arrest their fugitives, including Novel Baswedan. "If you really want to offer, go ahead. We open the door if you really want to collaborate," he said.

"The information (which, ed) I (consider, ed) is very important. No need for energy, we have a lot of information, but the information," added Karyoto.

Furthermore, Karyoto ensured that the KPK continued to search for Harun Masiku and other fugitives from the KPK, namely Surya Darmadi, who has been a fugitive since 2019; Izil Azhar has been fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama, who has been on the run since 2017. However, the search was carried out quietly.

"If we want to find a DPO, we don't scream everywhere. If we scream, it's the same as running away," he said.

As a reminder, the KPK has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he could easily sit as a member of the DPR RI through interim shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

It's just that Aaron, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.

The case stems from the death of a PDIP candidate named Nazarudin Kiemas. Furthermore, in July 2019, the party bearing the bull symbol filed a lawsuit for judicial review of Article 54 of KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2019 concerning Vote Voting and Counting to the Supreme Court (MA).

The application was then granted and as a determinant of the interim replacement (PAW), the party bearing the bull symbol then sent a letter to the KPU to designate Harun as Nazarudin's replacement.

However, the KPU instead appointed Riezky Aprilia as a replacement for the brother-in-law of the late PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. The reason is clear, Riezky's vote is under Nazarudin or in second place for the South Sumatra I electoral district.

Lobbying was then carried out so that Harun could become a member of the legislature. Seeing this gap, Wahyu Setiawan as the KPU commissioner said that he was ready to help as long as there were operational funds of IDR 900 million and the transaction was carried out in two stages in the middle and end of December 2019.
