JAKARTA - The National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa and Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji discussed plans for cooperation in the defense and security sector in the Asian region.

"I want the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in various sectors to continue to be improved," said Andika Perkasa as quoted from General TNI Andika Perkasa's YouTube channel in Jakarta, Thursday, March 24.

Quoted by Antara, he hopes that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan, especially in the military field, will be stronger. The cooperation that has been established is projected not only through joint training and work programs to procure the main defense system equipment (defense equipment), he added.

The former Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) also hopes that the relationship or connection between the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) soldiers and the TNI will also be closer.

Previously, Andika said that he had spoken with the Chief of Staff of the Japanese Army regarding the joint exercise plan between the Army troops of the two countries. TNI has learned a lot from the Japanese military, he continued.

"Especially in terms of disaster management," he added.

The 1987 graduate of the Military Academy (Akmil) assessed that Japan has experience in disaster management, so it is worthy of an example in disaster management.

Meanwhile, Kanasugi Kenji said that optimization in the defense and security sector of the two countries, through cooperation in the procurement of defense equipment to joint exercises, is good to do.
