JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff, General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, said the Indonesian Army Manunggal Air program has currently built 227 well points throughout Indonesia.

He said this program is to expand access to clean water for people who have water difficulties in several areas.

"The Indonesian Army is here to deliver clean water needs as a solution to the difficulty of accessing clean water by people in all corners of the country", said General TNI Dudung Abdurachman in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, March 24.

This was conveyed by the Army Chief of Staff in the activities of launching the Indonesian Army Manunggal Air program simultaneously and spread throughout Indonesia.

He said the inauguration of 15 well points spread across East Java, Central Java, West Java, Madura, and Sulawesi was a continuation of the Manunggal Air Indonesian Army program.

To date, 227 wells have been built in various areas, namely 23 points in Bali, 27 points in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and 177 points in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), including 55 drilled wells spread over in Bali, NTB, and NTT.

General Dudung said that the provision of clean water is not only limited to running water, but the water must be easily accessible by the community.

Army Chief of Staff conveyed that the program to fulfill clean water using a drilled well system, hydraulic ram pump, and gravity/non-electric distribution was effective in meeting the needs of clean water for the community.

"Economically, this does not burden the community in its operations", he said, as reported by Antara.

The program will continue to be implemented comprehensively in various areas that have difficulty accessing clean water.

Army Chief of Staff hopes that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and local governments will participate in supporting the clean water supply program for the community so that clean water problems can be resolved quickly.
