Dark Clouds In East Sumba, Overturned Boat Victim Found Dead

JAKARTA - The joint SAR team managed to find Mara Kaja (32) who was the victim of the overturned boat incident while looking for fish in Laidunga waters, Hanggaroru Hamlet, Kaliuda Village, East Sumba Regency. Mara Kaja was found dead.

"The victim has been found by the joint SAR team after being declared missing since Sunday (20/3). The victim when found was already dead", said Head of the Kupang Class A Search and Rescue Office, Emi Frizer in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Tuesday, March 22, reported by Antara.

He explained that the boat capsized after being hit by a wave that occurred on Sunday, March 20 at 21.00 WITA when three fishermen were looking for fish in Laidunga waters, Hanggaroru Hamlet, Kaliuda Village, Pahunga Lodu District, East Sumba Regency.

The boat carrying three fishermen overturned due to being hit by a fairly large wave so that the three fishermen fell into the sea, two people managed to save themselves by swimming to the shore while one person, Mara Kaja (32) was declared missing.

He explained that the joint SAR team conducted a search around the scene on Monday, March 21, and managed to find the victim in a dead condition.

He said that when the victim was found wrapped in a gelatinous rope to the east or around 600 locations of the incident at the coordinates 10° 10' 17.39" S-120° 46' 00.06" E.

After the victim was found, the SAR team immediately handed over the victim to the family, and the SAR operation in East Sumba Regency was closed.
