JAKARTA - Indonesia has been chosen to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), which will be held in 2024. This was stated by the Minister of Minister For Public Works and Human Settlements (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono.

WWF is a meeting of a number of countries that discusses the issue of water resource management by various stakeholders.

Basuki revealed that Indonesia's decision to host was made at the 9th WWF meeting in Dakar, Senegal some time ago. Indonesia won 30 out of a total of 36 votes from the World Water Council (WWC) Board of Governors.

"We got thirty votes while Italy only had one, while the others (WWC's Board of Governors) abstained," Basuki said in an official statement, Monday, March 21.

Basuki thanked WWC for giving full trust to Indonesia to host the 10th WWF. The city that will host WWF later will be Bali.

There are five main criteria that the selection team reports to the WWF host, which includes substance and program, logistical readiness (Venue) and technical aspects, event organization, communication, and marketing, as well as financing commitments for the WWC 2024.

"We will arrange the 10th WWF event in a comfortable, safe and efficient way in Bali. In 2024, we can meet again in Bali to attend the next forum and experience the extraordinary hospitality and local wisdom of Bali, including the Subak system that has become UNESCO world heritage," he said.

It is known, the 10th WWF will be held with the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity" to answer global challenges and potentials caused by increasing population growth and urbanization.

It is hoped that at the 10th WWF, a solution can be produced to answer water problems globally, in particular ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation.
