KPK Revealed Procurement Of Goods And Services Is The Most Vulnerable To Corruption By DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Officials

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata revealed that the process of procurement of government goods and services is the most prone to corruption by DKI Provincial Government officials.

This is because, said Alex, the budget for the procurement of goods and services within the scope of DKI Jakarta is very high, considering that the DKI Regional Budget per year can reach the figure of IDR 80 trillion. From the high nominal of DKI Jakarta's Regional Budget (APBD), Alexander said the potential for budget leakage is very high.

This he conveyed during a technical guidance event (bimtek) entitled The DKI Jakarta Province Integrity Family which was attended by DKI Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria and high-ranking officials of the DKI Provincial Government.

"In Jakarta, the budget for the procurement of goods and services is very high because the DKI Regional Budget alone is around IDR 80 trillion. Many of these activities need attention for the DKI Provincial Government to carry out strict supervision regarding the procurement of goods and services," said Alexander at City Hall, Jakarta. Thursday, March 17.

One of the corruption cases in the procurement of goods and services that is being handled by the KPK is the corruption in the purchase of land in the Munjul area, Cipayung, East Jakarta by the former Director of Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya Yoory C. Pinontoan.

Other loopholes for corruption in Indonesia are related to licensing issues, buying and selling positions, in general. However, in the regions, the most vulnerable potential for corruption is not the procurement of goods and services, but the sale and purchase of positions.

"The sale and purchase of positions may be (small because the system) is open in the DKI Provincial Government. However, in many areas the sale and purchase of positions is still found," said Alexander.

Alexander said that the corrupt practices carried out by government officials were not only driven by personal desires, but also from the community.

According to Alexander, there are people who voluntarily give rewards or gratuities to officials and civil servants for the services they provide.

"Sometimes we ourselves make officials, State Civil Apparatus (ASN), behave corruptively. We have been served with licensing documents and so on, but it feels like our society is not enough just to say thank you and then give something sincerely," said Alexander.

"This has caused our ASN bureaucracy to become accustomed to receiving things from the community. Please, people, we have to wake up early on to prevent this corrupt behavior," he added.
