BANDUNG - West Java Governor M. Ridwan Kamil said he was saddened and lost over the death of Professor Asep Warlan Yusuf of the Parahyangan Catholic University (Unpar).

"Personally and on behalf of the West Java Provincial Government, we express our deepest condolences, for the bereaved families are given patience," he said in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 15.

Prof. Asep is a thinker and scholar. During his lifetime he also sat on the Executive Board of the Development Acceleration Team (TAP) formed by Ridwan Kamil.

He admitted that his last meeting with the deceased occurred in January 2022.

"Lastly, the deceased and I discussed a lot related to IKN. He conveyed many things related to IKN," he said.

Ridwan Kamil also conveyed that Asep Warlan was the best and inspirational intellectual figure.

"Hopefully there will be a replacement for him, who will be an inspiration for intellectuals," he said.

He hoped that there would be a figure who could replace Asep Warlan's position, considering that the contribution of the deceased's thoughts to the development of West Java was so great.

Before he died, Asep Warlan had been undergoing treatment for one month due to his illness.

Asep Warlan breathed his last in the ICU of the Central General Hospital Dr Hasan Sadikin Bandung at the age of 61 years.
