JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini or Risma motivated social workers (pesos) not to be discouraged and continue to give their best in the webinar to commemorate World Social Work Day.

According to Risma, Social Workers have a noble task in the midst of the many existing social challenges.

"Most people consider social workers to be just a job. In fact, social workers' tasks are difficult, because they deal with people with disabilities and so on. Social workers' challenges in the future are quite difficult because cases of violence, including sexual violence against children, tend to increase. "So the most important thing is how we can respond to challenges quickly," he said.

To overcome the complexity of the challenges, Risma advised social workers to strengthen collaboration with Tagana, PSM, and other social pillars. That way, social workers will be ready to provide services to those in need.

This is in line with the theme of World Social Work Day 2022 which falls on March 15, 2022, "Together Building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind". This theme presents a vision and action plan for creating new sustainable global values, policies and practices that develop trust, security and confidence for all. That all the development carried out can be felt for everyone.

Therefore, he conveyed that social workers must be able to anticipate and adapt to changes in society so that they can solve social problems.

Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) IPSPI Widodo Suhartoyo said the social worker profession still faces stigma, is belittled, marginalized, and receives inappropriate rewards, even underpaid in the context of the minimum wage.

According to him, IPSPI needs to carry out several activities to emphasize the role of social workers in Indonesia, including the development of human resources (HR), professional oaths, practice permits, and competency standards for social workers.

"It is hoped that World Social Work Day 2022 will also be a prime opportunity for the social work profession to engage all networks and communities of social work practice on values and principles that enable all people to be respected for their dignity through a shared future," he said.
