Corruption Court Judge Sentences Director Of PT Selaras Simpati Nusantara Two Years Four Months

PALEMBANG - The panel of judges at the Palembang District Court, South Sumatra sentenced the defendant Suhandy, Director of PT Selaras Simpati Nusantara, to a prison sentence of two years and four months for the bribery case of an infrastructure project at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Office of Musi Banyuasin in 2021.

"Trial the defendant with a prison sentence of two years and four months, a fine of IDR 150 million with the condition that if not paid, it is replaced with a sentence of two months in prison", said Chief Justice, Yoserizal, in a verdict hearing at the Palembang District Court, Tuesday, March 15.

According to the judge, the defendant was conclusively proven to have committed a criminal act of corruption as indicated by the public prosecutor, namely bribing IDR 4.4 billion for a specific purpose to state officials in Musi Banyuasin Regency.

The bribe money, continued the Judge, was given by the defendant to the inactive Head of the PUPR Office of Musi Banyuasin Regency, Herman Mayori, with a value of IDR 1.089 billion for the period of February-October 2021, Head of the SDA/PPK Division of the PUPR Office of Musi Banyuasin, Eddi Umari, for IDR 727 million in January-October 2021.

PUPR Service PPTK Musi Banyuasin, Dian Pratama Putra, for IDR 190.5 million March-September 2021, Frans Sapta Edwar IDR 131 million December 2020 - October 2021, ULP Working Group Auction Committee IDR 320.5 million, and PUPR Service Treasurer Musi Banyuasin IDR 90 million May-September 2021 and when they were caught, they got IDR 1.020 billion.

"No flow was found to Dodi Reza Alex (the Musi Banyuasin Regent is inactive), based on the testimony of witnesses in the previous trial and the testimony of the defendant never giving the bribe money directly to the inactive Musi Banyuasin Regent, Dodi Reza Alex, but through the PUPR Service", said the judge reading the verdict, quoted by Antara.

The bribe money was intended to win four packages of infrastructure projects at the PUPR Office of Musi Banyuasin Regency which consisted of the Ngulak III Irrigation Area Rehabilitation (IDPMIP) project in Ngulak III Village, Sanga District with a contract value of IDR 2.39 billion, improvement of the regional irrigation network. Epil's Swamp Irrigation (DIR) with a contract value of IDR 4.3 billion, the improvement of the irrigation network of the Muara Teladan DIR with a contract value of IDR 3.3 billion, and the normalization of Ulak Ria Lake, Sekayu District with a contract value of IDR 9.9 billion.

"So, once the element of continuing action has been fulfilled, the defendant is charged as the first alternative indictment, Article 5 paragraph (1) of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law (UU) No. 20 of 2001 and ordered the defendant to remain in custody", he said.

Meanwhile, the defendant Suhandy, who attended the trial online from the Class IA Pakjo detention house, Palembang, stated that he had to think about it first with the verdict given by the Panel of Judges.
