WONOSOBO - Floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, Thursday, March 10 after almost a day of rain in the area.

The Head of the Wonosobo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Bambang Triyono, said that at least 12 landslides occurred and three areas were hit by floods.

He said the flood occurred in Njawar Village, Mojotengah District, due to overflowing water from the Wangan Aji River. Then in Siwadas Hamlet, Tegalsari Village, Garung District due to overflowing irrigation water and in Wonokromo Village, Mojo District, floods inundated the Wonokromo Village Office area.

Bambang said that although there were no victims in the flood disaster, residents had time to evacuate a mother and her newborn baby in Tegalsari Village to a safer place.

Dozens of people's houses were inundated with water and about 20 fish ponds and five hectares of rice fields were flooded.

"A number of residents in Siwadas Hamlet, Tegalsari Village had fled to a safer place, but a few hours later the residents had returned to their respective homes because the flood had receded," he said.

In addition to flooding, he said, landslides also occurred, including a landslide in Melikan Hamlet, Dero Duwur Village, Mojotengah District, which affected two houses. Then a landslide in Larangan Lor, Garung resulted in the access road to Menjer-Lorangan Lor being covered by landslide material.

A landslide also occurred in Kandangan Hamlet, Tegalsari, Garung. Landslides in Pulus, Sukoharjo hit a house. A landslide in Silandak Hamlet, Slukaton Village, Mojotengah District, affected a resident's house.

Then in Tegalsari Village, Garung District, two landslides occurred, namely in Curug Hamlet landslide material closed the village road access and in Pringapus Hamlet, a landslide hit a house.
