Minister Of Religion Yaqut's Plan For Invited Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb To Indonesia., After Pope Francis

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas expressed his desire to invite the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb to Indonesia.

This discourse was put forward by the Minister of Religion Yaqut after previously wanting to bring the Catholic leader Pope Francis to see the diversity in Indonesia.

"Apart from Pope Francis, my team and I are trying to invite Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar to come to Indonesia", Yaqut said as quoted from the Ministry of Religion's release, Antara on Wednesday, March 9.

Yaqut said that Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Pope Francis are important figures who continue to strive for world peace.

The two of them in 2019 signed the Document on Human Fraternity for Peace and Coexistence or the Abu Dhabi Declaration in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Yaqut added that one of the main points in the declaration was to invite mankind to live together in a spirit of brotherhood and to use religion as an inspiration.

"I would like to invite these two noble figures to come to Indonesia to witness that what was declared in Abu Dhabi has long been implemented in Indonesia, maybe even since Indonesia has not been established",

"This will certainly be a joy for all of us, two major religious figures in the world can meet in Indonesia, which is known for its diversity, whether it is religious, cultural, ethnic, and so on", said Minister Yaqut.
