BANDA ACEH - Investigators of Sub-Directorate III of Corruption Crimes at the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police have increased their investigation into allegations of corruption in the procurement of a washbasin or hand washing place at the Aceh Provincial Education Office with a budget of Rp. 41.2 billion for the investigation stage.

The Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said that the increase in the status of handling cases was based on sufficient initial evidence.

Investigators have examined and questioned 17 witnesses in handling cases of hand washing facilities with a budget of tens of billions of rupiah.

"The witnesses ranged from field implementers to the head of the service. In addition, investigators also examined documents related to the sink procurement project," said Kombes Winardy.

According to him, investigators from the Sub-Directorate III of Corruption Crimes from the Special Criminal Directorate of the Aceh Police have investigated the alleged corruption in the sink procurement since July 1, 2021.

Previously, the Aceh Government through the Aceh Education Office in the 2022 budget year procured 400 packages of hand washing or portable sinks with a value of IDR 41.2 billion.

The budget for the sink procurement comes from the COVID-19 refocusing fund. The sink is intended for high school and vocational schools throughout Aceh Province.
