The Ministry Of Health Records The Number Of Provinces Experiencing A Decrease In COVID-19 Cases Increasing

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health noted an increase in the number of provinces that began to experience a decline and a decrease in COVID-19 cases.

Secretary to the Director-General of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi revealed that at the end of February 2022, 14 provinces had experienced a decrease in daily cases, and 7 provinces had begun to experience a decline in COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, as of last Wednesday, March 2, 15 provinces have experienced a decline in cases and 8 provinces have experienced a decline.

"South Sulawesi is the latest province to record a consistent decline in cases on Wednesday, plus 14 other provinces that entered the phase at the end of last February", Nadia said in a statement, Friday, March 4.

"Meanwhile, North Maluku is the newest province to be included in the list of case-lowering cases along with 7 provinces that entered the phase some time ago", she continued.

Then, the 14 provinces that had previously experienced a decline in COVID-19 cases include DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, South Sumatra, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Papua.

Then, 7 provinces that had previously experienced a decline in cases were Central Java, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, West Sumatra, Gorontalo, Bengkulu, and Lampung.

On that occasion, Nadia said the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) of COVID-19 at national-scale referral hospitals had also decreased. On Wednesday, March 2, the BOR was 33 percent and on Thursday, March 3 it was 32 percent.

In addition, the average of the last seven days, the national positivity rate has decreased to 16.3 percent this week compared to the previous week which was recorded at 18.2 percent.

"After showing a significant improvement trend at the end of last February, the government is optimistic that it will continue to control the pandemic and try to stop the rate of cases from spiking even higher, especially so as not to burden the health care system", explained Nadia.
