KUPANG - The Kupang Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim), the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is currently detaining two Filipino citizens (WN) who entered Indonesia via the rat route and have been living illegally in NTT for a long time.

Head of the Immigration Division of the NTT Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Eko Budianto, said the two Filipino citizens with the initials RLA and DC were secured in different places on Flores Island after reports from residents.

"The person with the initials RLA is a man who was detained by Maumere Immigration in Nagekeo Regency some time ago", he said as quoted by Antara, Kupang, Friday, February 25.

RLA is known to have been in Nagekeo Regency with his wife and child, who are Indonesian citizens since July 2021. RLA and his wife are married religiously but have not been registered as married by state regulations.

Meanwhile, DC is a woman who also entered Indonesia through the rat route along with her child and husband. DC was secured by Intel and Labuan Bajo Immigration Enforcement officers on 17 February in Ngada Regency, after reports from residents.

DC is known to have lived in Ngada district for a very long time, namely four years.

Of the two cases, said Eko, the Filipino citizen entered Indonesia using a ship while following her family back to NTT.

"They entered through Malaysia, by ship, and then entered NTT", he said. Currently, both are in good health and are still waiting for the deportation process to their country.
