DPRD Suggests Anies Dismantle Buildings That Are Obstructing Backfilling Of Mampang River

JAKARTA - Head of Commission D for the Development of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Ida Mahcepat suggested that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan dismantle the building that hinders the dredging of the Mampang River in South Jakarta.

As is known, the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN), in its decision, sentenced Anies to dredge the Mampang River completely and build plaster for that river.

Against the illegal buildings that stood on the edge of the Mampang River, Ida asked Anies's men to dismantle it. Then, the residents living in the illegal building were moved to an apartment owned by the DKI Provincial Government.

"If indeed the dredging of Mampang is hampered by houses on the banks of the river, of course, the local government must immediately coordinate and communicate with the local community. We have to find a solution. Should we move them to the existing flats, which are closest to them, or something like that?," said Ida when contacted on Friday, February 25.

Meanwhile, for buildings that have certificates, the DKI Provincial Government must pay compensation for land and buildings if they are to be demolished.

"If there is a certificate, yes, the local government has an obligation to pay. But if they don't have a letter, it means we have to move them to the nearest flat. They will gladly move it," said Ida.

Ida also admitted that her party had asked the South Jakarta City Government to record the ownership of buildings on the banks of the Mampang River.

"There must indeed be cooperation between RT, RW, village, sub-district, and service tribes related to the data collection. Hopefully, there is the best way for residents," he said.

As is known, the DKI Provincial Government is currently dredging mud in Mampang River, in line with the Jakarta Administrative Court's decision regarding the lawsuit of residents affected by the flood.

However, there are obstacles in doing so. Currently, the Mampang River is narrower than its initial condition due to illegal buildings along the riverbanks.

In order to be able to build sheet piles, the DKI Provincial Government must restore the Mampang River route with an ideal width. Then, access to enter heavy vehicles is also constrained. Therefore, the work can only be done by dismantling the building on the banks of the Mampang River.
