Meet Jokowi, Artists Support IKN Nusantara Development

JAKARTA - A number of senior artists expressed their support for the government's program in building the National Capital (IKN) of Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

"We support all of Mr. Jokowi's programs, especially the ones in Kalimantan, making a new capital city. God willing, we've seen very good. Hopefully, later all Indonesians can travel there, we can travel there to see a new city," said Ida Royani, one of the senior artists who met President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, as quoted from information from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat was reported by Antara, Wednesday, February 23.

Similar support also came from one of the Bimbo group personnel, namely Samsudin Hardjakusumah alias Sam Bimbo. In fact, prior to the IKN development plan, Bimbo had composed a Nusantara-themed song.

"We from Bimbo support the new capital city in Kalimantan. Even before that, we already made the song Bumiku Nusantara," said Sam.

On Wednesday, February 23, President Joko Widodo received a number of senior artists and received various aspirations from them.

"We convey our aspirations regarding cultural matters, how culture actually strengthens a unity, how culture is to enrich our diversity. We also convey several things besides the cultural facilities and infrastructure that are here," said Indrodjojo Kusumonegoro or Indro Warkop after the meeting.

Previously, President Jokowi had signed Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (IKN) as the legal umbrella for the development of the Nusantara IKN, as well as the transfer of IKN from Jakarta.

In Article 2 of Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN, it is stated that the Capital of the Nusantara has a vision as a world city for all that is built and managed with the aim of becoming a sustainable city in the world, as a driver of Indonesia's economy in the future, and becoming a symbol of national identity that represents the diversity of the Indonesian nation, based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
