When The KPK And The Criminal Investigation Unit Of The National Police Intervened In Relation To Nurhayati, The Rapporteur On Alleged Corruption Became A Suspect

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Police-Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) intervened to explore the polemic of Nurhayati's appointment as a suspect in the alleged corruption she reported.

Former Head of Financial Affairs (Kaur) Citemu Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency, Nurhayati, became a suspect after reporting allegations of corruption in village funds that cost the state up to IDR 800 million from 2018-2020. This determination was carried out by the Cirebon City Police.

After the identification of Nurhayati as a suspect, the KPK then stated that it would send the Directorate of Coordination and Supervision (Korsup) II to coordinate with the police. This step was taken to make the polemic clear.

"I immediately asked the Director of Korsup II of the KPK to coordinate with APH regarding the handling of the case. Including, regarding the determination of the suspect," said KPK Deputy Chairman Nawawi Pomolango when contacted by VOI, Monday, February 21.

Nawawi said that his party did have the authority to coordinate investigations, investigations, and prosecutions of alleged criminal acts of corruption with other law enforcement officers, including the police. This, he said, was regulated in the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019.

"In Article 8 letter (a) of Law No. 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK, it is stated that the KPK's authority is to coordinate investigations, investigations, and prosecutions and eradicate corruption," he said.

From this coordination, there will be a number of things that will be explored. Including regarding the determination of Nurhayati as a reporter as a suspect.

"Yes (coordination, red) covers this," he said.

Not only the Corruption Eradication Commission, but the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit will also deploy Investigating Supervisors to examine the handling of corruption cases that led to the naming of Nurhayati as a suspect.

"I asked Karo Wassidik to check and monitor the case," said Agus.

The deployment of the Wassidik Bureau is to ensure that the handling of the case goes according to the procedure. Including the process of determining the suspect must be in accordance with the rules.

Governor of Central Java pays attention

Ganjar Pranowo, who is the Governor of Central Java, also highlighted the determination of Nurhayati as a suspect. He regretted the status given by the Cirebon Police to the former Head of Finance of Citemu Village, especially since Nurhayati dared to report allegations of corruption in her surroundings.

Ganjar hopes that in the future, Nurhayati can receive assistance and investigate the veracity of her report. "This is good news because people dare to report, that's good. I really appreciate it and I watched her, who was brave enough, in my opinion, to get a defense," he said in his statement.

In addition, Ganjar revealed that this is not the first time that the incident experienced by Nurhayati happened. He said, there were several cases of alleged corruption that actually led to the determination of the suspect reporting.

"There have actually been several similar incidents, the reporting has been reversed. If not, there is usually pressure," said the PDIP politician.

"So often many people report to me, I have to ask first where the data is, what is the problem, where is the evidence. If it is strong, usually we immediately send a team down secretly," added Ganjar.

Furthermore, he hopes that people who intend to report allegations of corruption will not be afraid. However, reports of this kind must be accompanied by strong evidence that is not just accusations.

"Prepare the evidence, report it properly and in a closed manner. It will be much safer for everyone. But what is already open, it is also important to see what the truth is," he said.

Previously, the Head of the City Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Fahri Siregar, said that the handling of the alleged corruption case, including the determination of Nurhayati as a suspect, was in accordance with the procedure. He said from the results of the investigation, Nurhayati was considered to have committed a criminal act of misappropriating funds that occurred from 2018 to 2020.

"The determination of Nurhayati as a suspect is also in accordance with the rule of law. Based on the instructions given by the public prosecutor," said Fahri.

In addition, in the process, the police have several times completed the case files for cases of corruption in village funds by the Village Head Citemu Supriyadi, but the Public Prosecutor has always rejected them, arguing that they are incomplete.

Fahri continued that after being rejected, his party re-examined the case, and then referred to the treasurer of Citemu Nurhayati Village, after he was named a suspect after fulfilling the evidence.

However, until now the police have not found any evidence related to the flow of village funds into Nurhayati's personal pocket. However, his party confirmed that the determination of Nurhayati's suspect was in accordance with the rule of law.

"Sister Nurhayati was investigated in depth, whether the act (with the disbursement of funds) was against the law or not. And from the results of the investigation that Sister Nurhayati was involved in enriching brother Supriadi (so he was named a suspect)," he concluded.
