JAKARTA - Bill Gates has been immersed in various discussions and research for two years. The thoughts are all outlined in this latest book by the founder of the Gates Foundation.
Billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates believes COVID-19 could be the last pandemic. But he can't be sure that in the future there won't be a new pandemic.
Bill Gates again reminded the world of the need to prioritize the "elimination" of the pandemic as a threat to humanity, as he describes in his new book due out next May.
"I've written a book about how we can ensure the world never suffers from something (pandemic) like COVID-19 again," Bill Gates wrote on his personal blog, quoted from The Cable, Sunday, February 20.
Bill is also aware that his statement that COVID-19 could be the last pandemic is hard to believe when the whole world is still struggling to control COVID.
The past two years, says Bill Gates, have caused a tremendous amount of hardship around the world, and it's not easy to feel optimistic when it comes to enduring the misery that so many people experience.

“COVID only makes it clear that the world needs to prioritize eliminating the pandemic as a threat to humanity. I have been following COVID since the early days of the outbreak, working with experts from inside and outside the Gates Foundation who are championing a more equitable response and have been fighting infectious diseases for decades.
“I've learned a lot in the process — both about this pandemic and how we can stop the next one — and I wanted to share what I heard with people. So, I started writing a book about how we can ensure that no one suffers through a pandemic again."
He said that the book, which was launched on May 3, 2022, contains step-by-step plans, innovations, and tools on how to fairly stop the pathogen early on.
He also said he outlined a process that could be used to provide better healthcare for everyone globally.
“In the book, I lay out the specific steps we can take to not only stop future pandemics but, in the process, provide better healthcare for everyone around the world. I outline the lessons we can learn from this pandemic, the innovations we need to save lives, and the new tools we need to stop pathogens early and fairly," Gates added.
