JAKARTA - The flight tests of the advanced Beriev A-100 'Premier' long-range radar surveillance and control aircraft will be completed this year, said Chief Designer of Vega Group (part of state technology company Rostec) Vladimir Verba.
"An important stage of testing the A-100, an aircraft platform that integrates the most advanced solutions, has begun", the Rostec press office quoted Verba as saying, as reported by TASS 2022.
"Scientists and engineers have confirmed that Russia's technology in creating radar surveillance and control aircraft is on a world level. Throughout 2022, we plan to complete the initial flight test cycle and submit the aircraft platform for state joint trials", he explained.
The next generation A-100 'Premier' air system has been developed based on the Il-76MD-90A aircraft, it features a fairing with a unique antenna system and advanced radio-technical equipment developed by the Vega Group within Ruselectronics Holding.
The A-100 'flying radar' is capable of detecting and tracking air targets and other targets, participating in command and control of fighter and attack aircraft in directing them to air, ground, and sea targets.
The radio-technical equipment of the A-100 aircraft features technical solutions based on advanced components, high-performance computers, and the latest domestic radio-electronic achievements. These technologies include data receiving and processing equipment and operator automated workstations.
The A-100 'Premier' long-range radar surveillance and control aircraft made its debut flight with activated radio-technical equipment, the Rostec press office announced.
"Vega Group specialists in Ruselectronics Holding and Beriev Aircraft Company integrated into the United Aircraft Corporation (both are part of the state company Rostec) carried out the first flight of the A-100 long-range radar surveillance and control platform with the onboard radio-technical system turned on. Tests confirmed the normal operation of the aircraft's special equipment and onboard systems under high electromagnetic radiation", the press office said.

During flight tests, specialists check the aerodynamic properties of the aircraft and the performance of the avionics and some special devices of the onboard radio technical equipment. The aircraft system operates according to the specified parameters and is ready for further testing, Rostec said.
The flight was carried out in normal mode. All systems and equipment operated smoothly. The crew completed full flight tasks, checked the stable and controlled operation of the aircraft in the specified piloting mode and the performance of the equipment installed on the aircraft. The Il-76MD-90A platform confirmed the characteristics of the design", the press quoted Crew Commander, Test Pilot of the Beriev Aircraft Company as saying.
