The COVID-19 Storm Occurs In Central Sulawesi In The Last 14 Days, Breaks 1,000 Percent With 1,315 Cases

SULTENG - The Center for Data and Information (Pusdatina) of Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) COVID-19 recorded daily active cases of COVID-19 in Central Sulawesi rose sharply to above 1,000 percent in just the last 14 days.

It was recorded that on February 5, only 80 active cases of COVID-19 were found in all areas in Central Sulawesi.

"On February 6-18, the graph of active COVID-19 cases continued to climb sequentially, 82 cases, 83 cases, 109 cases, 150 cases, 195 cases, 235 cases, 364 cases, 423 cases, 495 cases, 632 cases, 830 cases. "We have 1,042 cases and today there are 1,315 active cases of COVID-19 in Central Sulawesi," said Central Sulawesi COVID-19 Pusdatina spokesman Adiman in Palu City, Antara, Friday, February 18.

He explained that the 1,315 active COVID-19 patients were in a number of areas, including 653 people in Palu City, 189 people in Sigi Regency, 72 people in Morowali, 68 people in North Morowali, 54 people in Banggai Laut.

"Then 53 people in Tolitoli, 50 people in Poso, 48 people in Donggala, 36 people in Banggai, 29 people in Parigi Moutong, 26 people in Buol, 22 people in Banggai Islands and 15 people in Tojo Una-Una," he said.

Cumulatively, to date, 48,810 people have been confirmed to have been exposed to COVID-19. Of the 48,810 people, 45,878 people have recovered, 1,617 people have died and 1,315 people are still undergoing self-quarantine or at health service centers belonging to the local government.

He asked the public to support the supervisory team of the district and city health offices in Central Sulawesi who conducted searches on people who had been in contact with positive COVID-19 patients.

In addition, residents must implement health protocols to prevent the transmission and spread of COVID-19.

"The prevention is by wearing masks, washing hands, and keeping a distance and staying away from crowds. These steps are very important to do to break the chain of spread and transmission of COVID-19 in Central Sulawesi," he said.

To suppress cases of transmission and spread of COVID-19 in Central Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Mastura issued a Circular Letter (SE) of the Governor of Central Sulawesi Number 04 of 2022 concerning Restrictions on Activities During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In the circular letter, the Governor of Central Sulawesi ordered all regional heads and related agencies to reactivate the COVID-19 handling post at the village or sub-district level.

In addition, Rusdy also instructed the public to postpone the implementation of meetings, outreach events, seminars, meetings that are outside the network that mobilize or gather large numbers of people in one location at the same time and further improve health protocols more strictly.
