SURABAYA - A number of State Civil Apparatuses (ASN) who have been inhabiting simple rental flats (rusunawa) owned by the Surabaya City Government, East Java, are gradually starting to leave the flats.

"Hopefully over time, all ASN who live in the flats will be able to leave soon, so that MBR can enter and the queue for submitting flats can be reduced," said Head of the Surabaya City Public Housing and Settlement Areas and Land Office (DPRKPP), Irvan Wahyudradjad, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 18th.

According to Irvan, ASN left the rusunawa because of a request from the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, who asked ASN to leave the rusunawa. Because, he said, the rusunawa was intended only for Low-Income Communities (MBR).

Based on the results of the verification conducted by the DPRKPP on the occupants of 20 rusunawa in Surabaya, it is known that there are as many as 88 ASN living in the rusunawa with the details of 63 active ASN and 25 retired ASN.

Irvan said, of the 88 ASN people who inhabit the flats, many have voluntarily returned the keys to the flats. In fact, he said, they have also written a statement to return the residential keys.

In the letter, he continued, they acknowledged that the making of the statement was actually without any coercion from anyone and from any party.

"The statement letter was also signed by the person concerned using a stamp duty, so they voluntarily handed over the key to the flat," he said.

Irvan admitted that he was very grateful because many ASNs had left the flats. Because, he continued, when they were officially out, the flats would be replaced with the rightful residents, namely MBR.

Moreover, he said, currently the queue has reached 11 thousand, so it is appropriate for the ASN to leave the flat.

"Hopefully over time, all ASN who live in the flats can leave soon, so that MBR can enter and the queues for submitting flats can be reduced," he said.

In addition, the former Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Service also ensured that until now the Surabaya City Government continued to verify all residents of the flats in 20 flats owned by the city government.

Based on the results of temporary verification, there are 2,423 families of flat occupants that are included in the MBR, and there are 475 who are non-MBR, then there are 1,143 data that are not found in the e-Data Update application.

"Meanwhile, there are 4,556 households in the flats, and we are still verifying them," he said.
