The Death Rate Due To COVID-19 Becomes The Attention Of The Semarang City Government

SEMARANG - Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi (Hendi) explained that the death rate of confirmed COVID-19 patients in the capital city of Central Java Province has become a concern for the local government amid the increasing number of cases in recent times.

"It has been recorded that 18 patients have been treated who died during the period from January to February 2022," Hendi said in Semarang as reported by Antara, Thursday, February 17.

Of these, he said, there were six patients who died because they had comorbid diseases.

In addition, there were six patients who died whose vaccinations were incomplete, or even not vaccinated at all.

The graph of the number of COVID-19 cases in Semarang City from January to the present, he continued, has also not shown a decline.

"The forecast is for the peak at the end of February, then entering March it is estimated that it will start to decline," he said.

Regarding the availability of beds in hospitals and centralized isolation places, he said, it was still sufficient.

Hendi said that two centralized isolation areas had been opened, namely in the Central Java LPMP building and the Miracle Health Center in the Marina area, Semarang City.

"BOR in hospitals is still around 42 percent, half of the available capacity," he said.

Regarding the increase in the status of Semarang City PPKM to level 2, he said, not many rules have been changed because the restrictions applied at level 1 were the same as the rules at the current level.
