JAKARTA - Head of the UPK for the Manggarai Water Agency, Farry Andhiko, said that his party had transported 800 cubic meters of garbage that had piled up at the Manggarai sluice gate, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Three heavy equipment was deployed to transport the various waste materials.

"The amount of garbage has increased sharply, this is garbage that was carried away because it rained quite heavily last night," said Farry when confirmed by reporters, Thursday, February 17.

Farry said that the garbage collection was carried out at 10:00 WIB. The types of waste that are carried by the current to the Manggarai sluice gate are mostly tree pieces, bamboo and other types of waste materials.

A total of 15 trucks and three heavy equipment were deployed to transport the waste.

"The garbage is taken to the Pioneer of Independence area first to a temporary shelter. Then it is brought to Bantar Gebang," he said. Meanwhile, the height of the Manggarai sluice gate reached three or 745 centimeters. The water level increased at 02.00 WIB this morning.

Previously, it was reported that the residential area of Kebon Pala residents, Kampung Melayu Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta was flooded again on Thursday 17 February.

The overflowing water of the Ciliwung River inundated residents' houses to a height of more than 1 meter.

According to Gunawan, a PPSU officer at Kampung Melayu Village, water began to enter the residents' houses at around 03.03 WIB, in the morning.

"At 03.03 WIB, the flood began to submerge the residents' houses as high as 60 cm. It was submerged from the end. Then at 05.00 WIB, the water level rose to 100 meters," Gunawan told reporters, Thursday, February 17.
