Dengue Fever In East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara Increases To 34 Cases, Patients Treated At A Number Of Health Centers

JAKARTA - The government of East Flores Regency, on Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) recorded the number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) patients increased from 24 to 34 cases.

"Residents affected by dengue are currently undergoing medical treatment at their respective health centers," said Deputy Regent of East Flores Agustinus Payong Boli in a statement received in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

Based on data from the East Flores District Health Office, the number of dengue fever patients treated at the Nagi Health Center in Larantuka City was 13 people. In addition, 6 people from Ile Boleng Health Center, 4 people from Wawerang Health Center, 3 people from Lambbunga Health Center, 2 people from Waiwa Health Center, 2 people from Lewolema Health Center and 1 person from Boru, Kalike, Oka and Waimana Health Centers each.

Agustinus said dengue cases in the area began to appear since 2022 and increased quite significantly in February.

The regional government, he said through the Health Office, had previously taken anticipatory steps before entering the 2021-2022 rainy season in the form of an appeal or warning to every Puskesmas to increase vigilance.

He said the control of dengue cases also depended on the active role of the community itself to prevent diseases caused by the bites of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.

Agustinus again appealed to residents to maintain self-discipline in carrying out the 3m movement, namely draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used items. In addition to avoiding mosquito bites, one of them by using mosquito nets while sleeping.

Agustinus added that other prevention efforts prepared by the regional government are fogging that is tailored to the needs in the field.
