No Clear Spot On The Main Cause Of Deadly Accident In Bantul, 10 Witnesses Are Still Being Questioned By The Police

BANTUL - The investigation team of the Bantul Resort Police, Yogyakarta Special Region, has yet to find a clear spot for the single tourism bus accident in Bukit Bego, Bantul Regency, last Sunday, February 6. Research is still being done.

"Until now, we are still conducting further investigations, examining witnesses, so that until now we have not been able to narrow down or conclude the main cause of the accident," said Bantul Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Ihsan in Bantul, Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

Ihsan said that his party had examined 10 witnesses. The witnesses examined by investigators, starting from the party at the location of the case and seeing the accident, the bus passengers who survived, the mechanic, and the management of the company that owns the transportation vehicle.

"We have examined more than 10 people, including the PO (Autobus Company) that we have checked, then the mechanic as well, then we have checked the management, including the driver's assistant," he said.

The police chief said that the statements of all witnesses examined by the police would be investigated and collected to draw a conclusion.

"Of course, we are still investigating this, we will collect everything so we can chain the incident so that we can find out the main cause of the accident," he said.

The police chief also said that the tourism bus carrying 47 groups from Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java to travel in Sleman and Bantul had previously rarely operated because of the policy to limit the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"If the information from the PO is indeed due to the pandemic, because we know that during the COVID-19 pandemic, traffic activity is reduced, so there are no orders," said the Police Chief.
