KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Provincial Health Office recorded that eight people died from Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) from January to February 6, 2022.

"The number of deaths from the total number of residents affected by dengue has reached 930 cases", said Head of the NTT Provincial Health Office, Messe Ataupah, in a written statement quoted by Antara on Monday, February 7.

He said this was related to the latest developments in dengue fever in NTT since entering January 2022.

His party noted that the deaths from dengue fever were spread in Kupang City, Rote Ndao Regency, Ngada, Sikka, East Flores, Nagekeo, Southwest Sumba, Central Sumba, with one person each.

Messe Ataupah said that his party had tried to prevent dengue before entering the 2021-2022 rainy season through the distribution of abate and malathion drugs to areas.

In addition, said Messe Ataupah, his party is also coordinating with related agencies in 22 regencies/cities to carry out prevention and control.

However, the control of DHF is also very dependent on the participation of the community who must actively take preventive steps starting from their respective environments.

The community, he said, needs to routinely carry out the 3M movement, namely draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying used goods to prevent disease attacks caused by the bites of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.

Messe Ataupah said that cross-sectoral synergy is very much needed when a resident is affected by dengue fever, they are immediately taken to a health facility for medical treatment.
