18 Thousand COVID-19 Patients Treated At Hospital, Minister Of Health: 10 Thousand OTG And Mild Symptoms

JAKARTA - Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said the hospital capacity prepared by the government for COVID-19 patients was 120,000.

Of this number, only tens of thousands are occupied by patients, so the number of hospitals currently available is still large.

"Our hospitals are now filled with 18,000, to be exact 18,966 while our total hospital capacity is 400,000 and those prepared for COVID-19 are 120,000", Budi said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, February 7.

"So of the 120 thousand filled yesterday, 18,966 have been confirmed", he added.

Of the 18,966 people, Budi said, there were 15,522 confirmed cases and 10,000 of them were people without symptoms (OTG) or with mild symptoms.

Although the hospital occupancy rate is still low, the government asks COVID-19 patients who have no symptoms or mild symptoms to self-isolate at home or centrally.

The goal is that those who need treatment due to severe symptoms can be treated immediately and efficiently.

"So actually in the future if OTG and mild symptoms of self-isolation or centralized, the actual occupancy of our hospital is still very low", he said.

On that occasion, Budi also detailed that telemedicine services will continue to be used to support self-isolation activities carried out by COVID-19 positive patients. In fact, so far, the service has been used 150 thousand times with 38 thousand drugs delivered.

In the future, telemedicine services to strengthen self-isolation will be carried out in other areas outside Jakarta. Several areas will be of concern to the government, namely Greater Bandung, Greater Semarang, Greater Solo, Jogja, Greater Malang, and Denpasar.

"Once again, don't panic, don't get carried away, stay alert, if you're going up the city we will reduce mobility, just stay at home", concluded Budi.
