Islamic Boarding Schools Are Encouraged To Create Muslimpreneurs To Develop Halal Industry

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir visited the An-Nur II Islamic Boarding School in Malang. He invited the students (santri) to become Muslimpreneurs.

Erick assessed that the management of the domestic halal industry was still low. However, this country has enormous potential.

"Some time ago at An-Nur II Malang Tourism Ponpes, I conveyed the idea of santripreneur. As the largest Muslim country in the world, we have huge potential for the halal industry," wrote Erick Thohir on his Instagram account @erickthohir as seen by the editor, Sunday 6 February.

He hopes that the students are ready to develop themselves independently by forming creative businesses or SMEs in Islamic boarding schools.

"So that's why I want to knock on the hearts of all of us, both Islamic boarding schools, both santri, and also Muslimpreneurs. Come on, we have to be productive people," he said.

Erick said that halal products from abroad were still dominant. In fact, Indonesia is the largest Muslim country.

Furthermore, Erick said that Indonesia is only a market, while Brazil and the United States are the countries that produce the largest halal industry in the world.

Therefore, Erick believes that from Islamic boarding schools there will be Muslimpreneurs who can develop the Indonesian halal industry.

More than that, Erick said that all parties must be able to return to Islamic boarding school (pesantren) to become a beacon of civilization. Santri to become Muslimpreneurs must continue to be encouraged, and it is very important to balance this halal industry market.

More than that, Erick also encourages BUMN to become one of the facilitators for students to improve their competence through various synergistic and sustainable internship and skill development programs.
