KUPANG - The Immigration Office Class II TPI Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara, which borders Timor Leste deported a Chinese citizen named Fang Hanjun who is an ex-convict who has finished serving his sentence at the Class IIB Atambua Prison.

"Last night, the Atambua immigration team took the person concerned to Kupang and arrived in Kupang, followed by a PCR test on the Chinese citizen and then a quick antigen test on the two officers who drove the Chinese citizen to Jakarta", said Head of the Immigration Office Class II TPI Atambua, K.A. Halim, in Kupang on Thursday 3 February.

Previously, Fang Hanjun was detained by the Immigration and Police in Atambua when he wanted to bring a cellphone suitcase into Indonesia via Atambua in January 2020.

Fang Hanjun was proven to have violated Article 102 Letter a of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia number 10 of 1995 concerning Customs and has served a sentence of 2 years and 6 months in Atambua Class IIB Prison since 2020 until he was released on Tuesday, February 1.

After completing his detention period, Fanf Hanjun was then picked up by immigration officers and then taken to be temporarily detained in the detention room for two days and one night while waiting for the deportation process.

This, Halim explained, is by Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.

Halim said that Fang Hanjun's own data had been inputted into the Nyidakim application and also the submission of a ban application letter which would then be inputted into the online block.

Halim further added that after arriving in Jakarta from Kupang, Fang Hanjun would immediately fly to China. The family of the Chinese citizen has also coordinated with the Chinese embassy in Jakarta for the repatriation of Fang Hanjun.

But because the embassy is not cooperative because many Chinese citizens have problems and there are still cases of COVID-19, especially Omicron, which continues to increase.

"We finally coordinated with the airline for the repatriation in question. So we got a flight via Soekarno Hatta to China using Singapore Airlines (SQ) 957 on Saturday, February 5 tomorrow", he added.
