Airlangga Volunteers And Anies Supporters Discuss Coalition Plans, Could It Be Formed?

JAKARTA - Apart from being expected to play a duet with Ganjar Pranowo, it seems that Airlangga Hartarto is also being promoted for a duet with Anies Baswedan.

This was revealed when the Coordinator of Young Volunteers Airlangga Hartarto (RMA) Firman Mulyadi and Anies Baswedan supporter, Geisz Chalifah, met to discuss the coalition space in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"Golkar will open up opportunities for a coalition with the nation's best figures, one of which is Anies Baswedan. We want Airlangga Hartarto to become President 2024-2029," said Firman in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday, January 30, quoted from Antara.

Firman explained that 2022 will be the year of political communication ahead of the preparation for the 2024 presidential election. Political communication is very necessary to open up space for ideas and space for coalitions of presidential candidates (Capres) and vice presidential candidates (Cawapres).

Meanwhile, Geisz Chalifah reiterated that Anies Baswedan does not have funds and parties, but only has achievements. Geisz Chalifah is known as an activist and humanist who now serves as a commissioner at PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

During the meeting, Geisz Chalifah and Firman Mulyadi fully supported each other to produce more ethical and dignified elections.

Previously in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, the Golkar Party formally supported Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok as DKI Governor to compete against Anies Baswedan.

However, at that time, a number of Golkar figures supported Anies Baswedan, among them Erwin Aksa, who now serves as Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party. Even during the announcement of Anies Baswedan's victory at Prabowo Subianto's house, Aburizal Bakrie, another Golkar figure was also present.
