20 Ships Burned At Tegal Harbor, Cooling Still Ongoing

The Tegal City Police are still carrying out the cooling process on about 20 ships that caught fire at Tegal Port until Friday, December 27 this afternoon.

Tegal City Police Chief AKBP Rully Thomas said that currently the police are still monitoring and localizing the scene of the burning ship.

"The extinguishing process is still ongoing and the cooling process is to ensure the conditions of the blaze have been extinguished," he said in Tegal, Friday, December 27.

The police chief said the joint team was still trying to extinguish the fire on the burning ship.

Meanwhile, several ships that survived, he said, have now been localized and moved to a safer place.

A number of fire engines that were deployed had difficulty tameing the flames that continued to spread to other ships.

The wind and the large amount of liquid fuel on the ship caused the fire to continue to spread from before.

A joint team from the Tegal City Police, Lanal Tegal and Kodim, as well as a fire fighting team continued to be deployed to extinguish the blaze.

He said police officers were still investigating the cause of the ship fire case, including inventory losses from the fire case.
