Sumatran Tiger Appears In Residents' Settlements In Pasaman With Unique Behavior

West Sumatra's Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) responded to the emergence of Sumatran tigers in the settlements of Sarosah residents, Jorong Aia Mancur, Nagari or East Cubadak Village, Duo Koto District, Pasaman Regency. The tiger is said to have behaved uniquely because it seemed trying to approach residents in the village boundary area.

"The Sumatran tiger approached humans and followed 40 residents to the village limit when evacuating one family with three people who were in the garden, Saturday, December 21," said Head of the Conservation Resort Region I of the West Sumatra BKSDA Panti Ade Putra in Lubuk Basung, quoting ANTARA on Wednesday, December 25.

He said the family named Angga (31), Rosa (30), and a few months old baby were in their garden, Saturday, December 21 afternoon.

Suddenly, a tiger that is protected by Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Natural Resources and its Ecosystems came.

"The family took refuge in their garden hut while informing his uncle, via cell phone," he said.

He added that the West Sumatra BKSDA had dispatched a team to carry out field verification regarding the appearance of the tiger, Sunday, December 22.

Field verification with the Center for Orangutan Protection (COP), the Mayor of Nagari (Head of Village) of East Cubadak along with staff, the Head of Intelligence and Security at the Duo Koto Police and local residents.

"We traced the location where the animals appeared to search for their whereabouts and found footprints of animals. We also monitored that no animals with drones and animals were found," he said.

He appealed to residents to carry out activities in the garden of more than two people and go to the garden at 09.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB.

"I have conveyed this to residents during a meeting after conducting field verification," he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Lubis added that his party went straight to the location of the garden after receiving reports of the appearance of a Sumatran tiger from the Ministry of Manpower.

"I went to the location with three other residents using lighting and arrived at the location at around 19.00 WIB. At the location I tried to see the animals with lighting and the animals were still at the location," he said.

After that, a group of residents came to evacuate him to his house.

During the evacuation, tigers followed up to the village and animal boundaries back to their habitat.

Wali Nagari Cubadak Timur Yelfi said that previously the animal also appeared in the Nagari about four months ago.

Animals had eaten livestock in the form of dogs belonging to residents. The West Sumatra BKSDA and COP went down to the location to install camera traps.

"Four months ago the animal also appeared and ate the resident's dog," he said.
