Gending Toll Road Opens Functional During Nataru, Check Schedule

JAKARTA - The Probolinggo Banyuwangi Toll Road Section 1, namely the Gending Section, is opened functionally since December 21, 2024 or during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the Gending 'Kraksaan Toll Road operates functionally from morning to evening, starting at 06.00'16.00 WIB and can only be passed by small nonbus 4-wheeled vehicles.

"This functional toll road is expected to unravel the density of traffic on national roads as well as speed up the travel time for motorists traveling from Surabaya to Banyuwangi or vice versa," said Dody in his official statement, quoted Tuesday, December 24.

The total length of the functional section on the Probolinggo 'Banyuwangi Section I Toll Road is 10.3 kilometers (km) from Simpang Susun (SS) Gending to SS Kraksaan plus 3 km access.

Later, the functional of the Gending'Kraksaan section will be divided into 2 periods, namely homecoming and return flow, starting from December 21, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

In the period of homecoming flow, starting from December 21 to December 27, 2024, toll roads operate in one direction on Line A for toll road users from Surabaya to Banyuwangi and exit to SS Kraksaan.

Then in the backflow period from December 28, 2024 to January 5, 2025, the one-way functional toll road on Line B for toll road users from Situbondo or Banyuwangi to Surabaya.

"Later on, road users can enter the SS Kraksaan and continue their journey," said Dody.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Java National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) Bali Gunadi Antariksa ensures that the Gending Toll Road is safe for vehicles to pass.

"This road section is safe for vehicles to pass, as long as motorists continue to comply with the existing directions of officers and traffic signs. Drivers are expected to maintain speed of no more than 40 km/hour," he said.

This functional toll road is equipped with basic facilities, such as information services and the Nataru Command Post on the Kraksaan toll exit.

"This functional toll road is free of charge, so people are not paid when entering toll gates," he concluded.
