3 Illegal Gold Miners In Kapuas Hulu Died Covered In Galian Land

KAPUAS HULU - Unlicensed gold mining activity (PETI) in Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan claimed lives. Six gold miners were buried in the dug ground, three of whom died, Tuesday, December 10.

Deputy Head of Police (Wakapolres) Kapuas Hulu Kompol Dahomi Baleo Siregar said the unfortunate incident occurred at the illegal mining site in Gudang Hulu Village, Selimbau District at around 15:40 WIB.

"There has been a work accident at an illegal mining site. Six illegal gold miners were buried in the dug ground and three of them died at the location," he said, Wednesday, December 11.

He explained that the incident began when the six gold miners were in a dug hole. Then suddenly, the surrounding soil collapsed. The victim was immediately buried.

"Three victims were rescued, then taken to the Selimbau Health Center for intensive medical treatment," he said.

Dahomi said that prior to this incident, the police had brought order to the location. However, illegal mining activities were carried out again.

"Kam has carried out a control operation, but residents are still mining," he said.

Currently, the ranks of the joint apparatus from the Selimbau Police and the Kapuas Hulu Police have been dispatched to the location to conduct a crime scene investigation to trace the incident.

"We went to the location to process the follow-up crime scene. At the same time to control it again," explained Dahomi.

On the other hand, Dahomi appealed to residents or any party not to carry out illegal mining activities that could be dangerous.

"We strongly urge you not to carry out PETI activities, in addition to violating the law it can also damage the environment and public health. We hope that residents report if they see PETI activities," said Dahomi regarding three illegal gold miners in Kapuas Hulu who were buried in the ground.
