Prevent Crowds, Hachiko Statue Tourism Closed During The Substitution Of The Year

JAKARTA - The Shibuya District in Japan is famous for its iconic tourist spot which is always visited by tourists, namely the Hachiko Statue, which is right in front of Shibuya Station. However, ahead of the New Year, the statue spot was closed by the local government.

The closure is carried out to avoid crowds that are difficult to control at the end of the year. Quoted from Soranews24, Monday, December 9, 2024, the area around Shibuya Station is usually visited by crowds of people who are drunk, make noise, and are disrespectful at the moment of the turn of the year.

The area is also often used as a street party area and causes property damage, injuries, and scattered garbage. With that, the local government has carried out various ways to deal with crowds, one of which is closing the visit of the Hachiko Statue at the end of the year.

The government has also announced that there will be no closing celebrations on New Year's Eve 2024-2025. The ban on drinking alcohol in public places in the Shibuya area has also been treated throughout the year.

We collaborated with various public institutions to improve security around Shibuya Station on New Year's Eve, as well as to prevent accidents and injuries. It's hard to do that in the midst of a crowd, so we ask for everyone's understanding and cooperation to prevent overcrowding," said Shibuya District Head Ken Hasabe.

The closure of the Facilities Statue with several barriers is scheduled to be installed on December 31 at around 18.00 local time. For tourists who want to take pictures with the dog statue, it is advisable to plan to come on another day other than the New Year's Eve.
