JAKARTA - Gerindra Party Deputy Habiburokhman, admitted that he was confused by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD who said Indonesia was not doing well. In fact, for almost five years it was MahfudMD himself who served as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Frankly, Pak Mahfud's statement confused some of the public," Habiburokhman told reporters, Saturday, November 25.

The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR then questioned Mahfud's duties while serving as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. Where should, the former chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) maintains national political, legal and security stability.

"I got a question from many people, what did he do as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs for almost five years if he was now told to say Indonesia is not doing well?," said Habiburokhman.

Habiburokhman then reminded Mahfudfud not to spread the narrative of pessimism to the public. According to him, a leader should be able to use a better diction when speaking in public.

"It is better for leaders not to spread pessimism, they must be wiser in using the diction that is conveyed to the people," he said.

According to the legislator who sits on the legal commission, there was a lot of progress and improvement in the era of President Jokowi. Especially regarding the eradication of corruption handled by three law enforcement institutions.

"It must be admitted that in the era of Pak Jokowi's leadership there were a lot of progress and improvements that we experienced. Regarding the eradication of corruption, for example, we know that three corruption era institutions are working very optimally. The public satisfaction score with the prosecutor's office penetrated 80, in plain view we also see that the prosecutor's office is very aggressive in eradicating corruption," he explained.

In fact, he said, state money could be saved up to tens of trillions. "In 2022 alone they saved Rp. 21 trillion in state money," he added.

Apart from the Prosecutor's Office, Habiburokhman also said that law enforcement by the Police was also maximized. This is proven by the index of community satisfaction with the National Police which reached 75.

"Meanwhile, the KPK, despite the many controversies, it turns out that they are carrying out their maximum function of education, prevention, and prosecution of corruption," he said.

Not to mention the ITE Law which has undergone two revisions to guarantee the right of opinion in the Jokowi era. According to Habiburokhman, it is one of the legacy left by the Jokowi government.

"The most monumental, in the era of Pak Jokowi, we can have a new criminal law book, replacing the Dutch colonialist product Criminal Code which we have used for more than 100 years: this new Criminal Code contains a value of restorative and rehabilitative justice," he said.

Habiburokhman is optimistic that the Indonesian nation in the future will be strong if the achievements in the Jokowi government are continued by future leaders of the nation.

"We believe that close cooperation between elements of our nation's children will become one of the great powers at the international level," he concluded.
