Firli Will Be Inactive After Becoming A Suspect For SYL Extortion But Waits For Jokowi's Decision
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata said Firli Bahuri would be inactive from the position of Chairman of the KPK. This step is in accordance with the provisions in Law 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK.
"According to the provisions of Article 32 paragraph 2 and paragraph 4 of Law 19 of 2019 in terms of KPK leaders being suspects in criminal acts, KPK leaders being temporarily dismissed from their positions," Alex said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 23.
Even so, the deactivation can only be made after the decision of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). "The dismissal is determined by a Presidential Decree," said Alexander.

Some of the evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect was witness testimony and electronic evidence. Meanwhile, the police have examined 91 people in this case.
They include Syahrul Yasin Limpo, former aide to Firli Bahuri, Kevin Egananta. Then there is the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, Director of Dumas KPK Tomi Murtomo, as well as two former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and M Jasin.
Meanwhile, there are about 8 experts consisting of criminal law experts, micro expressions, and procedural law.
