Jokowi Invites Joe Biden To Defend Justice And Humanity In Palestine

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo invited United States President Joe Biden to be at the forefront of defending justice and humanity for the Palestinian people.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi in a bilateral meeting between Indonesia and the United States which was held at the White House, Washington DC, United States, Monday (13/11) local time.

"I really hope the US can show its leadership and be at the forefront of defending justice and humanity for the Palestinian people, for Palestinian peace and independence based on a two-state solution," President Joko Widodo told Biden.

President Jokowi assessed that the contribution of the United States in realizing peace was considered important and awaited by the world.

In addition, during the meeting, the Head of State also appreciated the development both regarding the dynamics of relations between the United States and the People's Republic of China (RRT).

"I appreciate and support the reopening of strategic communication channels between the United States and the RRT," he added.

The President believes dialogue is the key to bridging differences.

On the other hand, the Head of State emphasized that Indonesia and ASEAN will not allow Indo-Pacific to become areas used as arenas for influence by the world's great powers.

President Jokowi firmly stated that all actions that could trigger instability should be avoided.

"The spirit of peace must continue to be discussed, any action that can lead to instability must be avoided," he stressed.

President Widodo stressed that the partnership between Indonesia and the United States must be an active part of these efforts, including to encourage Southeast Asia to enter the global supply chain.

"And ASEAN state access to the US market, where AOIP (ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific) implementation support is highly expected," he explained.
