KPU Sued About Gibran, House Of Representatives Commission II: Wait For Verification Results
Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives Yanuar Prihatin responded to the lawsuit against the General Elections Commission (KPU) to the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) for accepting the registration of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming as vice president.
According to Yanuar, Gibran was able to register even though at that time the PKPU related to the vice presidential age limit had not been changed. However, he said, verification will determine whether Gibran meets the requirements or not to take part in the 2024 presidential election.
"The KPU itself explained that it was not my opinion, yesterday during a meeting with commission II, the registration was scheduled for October 19-25. At the time of registration, the file was checked, whether or not the file was valid," said Yanuar, Thursday, November 2.
The PKB politician said whether Gibran's nomination file was valid or not would be known during the verification stage.
"So now, everyone can register whether it is legal or not, meet the requirements or not at the time of registration, there is a verification stage," explained Yanuari.
Therefore, Yanuar admitted that he was relaxed with the polemic of Gibran's candidacy as Prabowo Subianto's vice presidential candidate. His party, he said, is still waiting for administrative verification and others regarding Gibran's candidacy at the KPU.
"The files are verified, the administration, health and so on, until finally the KPU decides the final that this is feasible to meet the requirements or not, that's not the time yet, is it?," said Yanuar.
"For example, I registered, I could register as a civil servant, I registered, right, the names of the people registered would definitely be accepted, but whether they meet the requirements or not, it's time for verification to be discovered," he added.
