After 16 Months Stopped, KCN Marunda Terminal Officially Operates Again Today
JAKARTA - The Public Terminal of the Port Business Entity of PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN) at Marunda Port, North Jakarta officially operates again starting today, after previously being temporarily suspended since 30 June 2022 or 16 months ago.
The re-operation of the KCN terminal at Marunda Port is in line with the issuance of a permit to operate again by the Ministry of Transportation.
"Today we will immediately open (the terminal). Hopefully, a ship will dock and indeed there are some who have been waiting for quite a long time because it has entered the 16th month (the cessation of operation)," said President Director of PT KCN Widodo Setiadi, met at KCN Marunda Terminal, North Jakarta, Monday, October 23.
Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Sea Relations of the Ministry of Transportation Antoni Arif Priadi said the permit to operate again was granted after PT KCN received approval of the Environmental Evaluation Document (DELH) in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number SK.970/MENLKHK/SETJEN/PLA.4/8/2023 dated August 28, 2023.
Antoni also said that in principle the approval for the re-operation of the KCN Terminal at Marunda port can be given by taking into account several things. First, to ensure legal certainty regarding the need for services in ensuring the smooth flow of ships and goods for loading and unloading activities.

"The approval of the re-operation of the KCN Terminal must comply with applicable regulations in the fields of ports, transportation in waters, shipping safety and security as well as maritime environmental protection and other applicable regulations," he said.
In addition, he continued, services for ships and goods are carried out by taking into account aspects of technical feasibility, safety and shipping security and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) for shipping ships and goods that have been set.
"We have also instructed the Head of the Marunda Class II KSOP Office to supervise loading and unloading activities at the PT KCN General Terminal and report them regularly," he said.
