Regarding Allegations Of Persecution By The Son Of The Chairman Of The Ambon DPRD, Judge: Can Call Forensic Experts

JAKARTA - The trial of a case of alleged criminal acts of abuse committed by the son of the chairman of the Ambon City DPRD that killed the victim could issue a determination to summon a forensic expert.

"The court can issue a letter of determination to summon experts to appear at the trial if the person concerned does not give a reason to the public prosecutor," said Ambon District Court Chief Justice Haris Tewa quoting Antara.

The panel of judges confirmed the agenda of examining forensic experts and a 13-year-old witness in the alleged criminal act of persecution by the defendant Abdi Aprizal Sheehan alias Abdi against the victim Rafli Rahman sie.

When opening the trial with the agenda of examining witnesses, the panel of judges asked the Public Prosecutor Endang Anakode how many witnesses were presented by the prosecutor, and two people answered, namely one forensic expert and a 13-year-old child.

The prosecutor admitted that he had contacted experts several times via cell phone to notify the trial time, but was not picked up by experts.

Furthermore, the panel of judges continued the trial by listening to the testimony of a 13-year-old boy who had taken a video of the incident by the defendant against the victim on Sunday, (30/7) at 21:10 WIT located in Talake, Nusaniwe District (Ambon City).

"Because the witness is still a minor, the panel of judges, prosecutors, and legal advisers must release the toga (blackjubah) and get enough clothes, then all court visitors leave the courtroom," said the panel of judges.

Defendant Abdi was charged with Article 354 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning Serious Persecution which resulted in death, subsidiary Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code and or secondly, namely Article 359 of the Criminal Code.
