Courier 4 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine Sued 18 Years In Prison At Medan District Court
The public prosecutor charged the defendants Saiful AG, a resident of Central Lampung and Marzali, a Riau resident, with 18 years in prison in a case of being a courier of four kilograms of methamphetamine.
"Ask the panel of judges to sentence Saiful AG and Marzali to 18 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said JPUMaria FR Tarigan at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 18.
Based on the facts of the trial, the two defendants had fulfilled the elements of committing a criminal act Article 114 (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
The essence of the article, said Maria, is without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging or delivering narcotics class I of methamphetamine weighing more than five grams.
"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions do not support the government's program in eradicating narcotics, there is no mitigating thing," said Maria.
Previously, the prosecutor's indictment said that on July 10, 2023, the defendant Saiful AG was offered by Judge Citra (lidik) to pick up four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province with a salary of Rp. 40 million.
After being approved by Saiful, the judge gave an advance of Rp. 15 million for road costs, the rest will be given when the goods arrive at their destination.

Arriving at Pekanbaru, Saiful invited the defendant Marzali to take crystal methamphetamine in Aceh, then the two of them rented a car. In short, when they arrived in Aceh they contacted the judge to take the illicit goods.
After receiving the methamphetamine, the two defendants continued their journey and had stopped at the Binjai-Medan toll road gate. After that, they continued on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Lalang Village, Rambutan District, Tebing Tinggi City.
At that time, police officers from the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Directorate received information that someone was carrying methamphetamine.
"Then the police officer searched the defendant's car and found four plastics containing methamphetamine," he said.
