The Official Letter Of Registration For The Anies-Muhaimin Pair Has Been Received By The KPU

The presidential candidate pair (candidate) and vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from the Change Coalition, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, have officially sent a registration notification letter to the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Secretary General of the NasDem Party DPP Hermawi F. Taslim said in the letter it was written that Anies-Muhaimin would register with the KPU on Thursday, October 19, 2024 at 08.00 WIB.

"We have entered it and have received it," said Hermawi confirmed in Jakarta, Sunday.

The Change Coalition Team, said Hermawi, had sent the letter on Thursday, October 14, 2023 at 15.00 WIB, and the letter was immediately received by the staff of the Secretariat General of the Indonesian KPU.

From the documents received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Sunday, the registration notification letter was signed by the general chairmen and the president of the political party DPP (parpol) who carried Anies-Muhaimin.

Hermawi said that with the notification letter, the registration process would be completed soon; so Anies-Muhaimin became the first presidential and vice presidential candidate pair to register on the day the registration was opened by the Indonesian KPU.

"God willing, we will be the first pair and will arrive around 08.00 am," said Hermawi.

The registration period for presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election is agreed to be 19 25 October 2023, as the results of the Commission II meeting of the DPR RI with the Ministry of Home Affairs, KPU, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), and the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP).

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of election participants who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid votes of at least 34,992,703 votes.
